Happy Sunday!
Last night I held a little social gathering for a bunch of
my clients. We had so much fun. It was great getting my clients together because many of them don't see or know each other because of how small my studio is and how I have to operate my business. I've built a great little community (thanks to all of you!) and I hope to grow it by one day opening a bigger gym with more space, classes and an open gym concept where all of my clients will have a chance to see one another more often. BUT! Until then, having fun events like this helps
build an awesome community vibe.
Watching many people play pickleball and doing something they don't normally do made me really happy. I'm a pickleball enthusiast, I love it so much. It makes me feel like a little kid running around the court and
jumping like a maniac for every ball that comes my way. It was really great to watch people play, laugh and enjoy each others company.
A few things I learned and took away from the event:
- Age
doesn't define fitness. You can be athletic at any age. You can do physical stuff at any age. It was great seeing my Dad out there having fun and running around. Knowing he was a great athlete in his younger days makes me so happy to see him doing something athletic again!
- Stepping out of your comfort zone is always a good thing - most people there had never played pickle before, but by the end of the night, I think most
enjoyed it and maybe aren't as intimidated as they were before to step on the court again!
- An event like this could possibly add another physical element to someones life. Maybe someone last night loved it so much that now they will start playing a few times per week, upping their fitness, steps and movement goals each day! Then, they may entice a friend or family member to get out there as well - helping them add more physical
fitness to their life too!
- Bringing people together will always make me happy. I like to do things for people...I think thats why I gravitated towards being a trainer. No matter everyones background last night, we all had some laughs and enjoyed something that many of us did not have in common at the beginning of the night.
Physical fitness isn't just going to the gym and lifting weights. Or going for a run. It's moving your body any way you can and any chance you can. It's playing pickleball. It's running around with your kids or grandkids. It's taking your dogs for a walk. It's brining the laundry upstairs. It's carrying the groceries in. It's not letting the home depot man help you load the car because you can do it on your own.
There's many different forms of fitness. Find yours. And do a lot of it. Because one day it will catch up to us. One day all you may want to do is walk or stand up...and you may not be able to do either. Do it now, for your future self.
Have a lovely day🌞!
