Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Part 2 of our B3
supplement series! I hope you learned something last week about whey protein, creatine and multivitamins. This week let's finish up the list of the top supplements I currently recommended, and take, as well.
AGAIN. Supplements are not magic. Supplements won't get you to the body you desire. Supplements have their place. Supplements are there for exactly what they say they are there for; to SUPP-LE-MENT your diet and lifestyle.
1.) Electrolyte Supplements
You need water. Over half of the human body is made up of water. Water is necessary for every single cell to function in our body. But...we ALSO need MORE than just water. Water sure
does hydrate us, but electrolytes balance us. Electrolytes keep us on the top of our game...they make sure everything is functioning correctly and give you that little extra boost when your feeling tired, sluggish and worn out.
- Whats in those IV bags at hospitals...yes, electrolytes.... magnesium, chloride, sodium, and potassium are the most common electrolytes used in an IV bag.
- Electrolytes provide fluid balance and PH balance throughout our entire body.
- They help move nutrients & waste products in and out of cells.
- They help our muscles and nerves function better.
- They keep us hydrated more than just water. Especially if you are a sweaty person, you are losing a TON of sodium every day. Start supplementing with ELECTROLYTES NOW. You will immediately feel better.
- I drink a scoop of Redmond Life Re-Lyte every single day of my life. More on the days I am super sweaty. Definitely on
the days I drink alcohol.
Top recommendations: Re-lyte or LMNT.
2.) Pre-Workout, Caffeine, etc.
We all need a little pick me up here and there. A LOT of people wake up every single morning to run to their morning coffee. *Try consuming water and electrolytes first upon waking up. We wake up dehydrated. Having coffee first
thing isn't a bad move, electrolytes are just a BETTER move*
Anyways...caffeine defiantly helps. It's been proven too. Numerous studies have shown it too. I use it as well. I also use pre-workout from time to time or sometimes referred to as "pre".
- Pre-workout can boost energy levels because it usually contains caffeine, allowing you a little more energy for your workout.
- Sometimes on those sluggish days, pre-workout can help get you over the hump and give you a little extra motivation to workout.
- Most of them contain beta-alanine which can reduce fatigue, improve anaerobic
capacity and enhance your overall workload.
- Some pre-workouts may help increase focus to allow you to get the job done in an effective manner in the gym.
Top recommendations: Legion, BPN, Transparent
Labs.
3.) Magnesium
Magnesium is
an essential mineral that our body needs and I've recently started using it. It's involved in hundreds of enzyme systems in the body that regulate processes like protein synthesis, muscle and nerve function, blood glucose control, and more.
- It can help improve athletic performance and overall recovery.
- Reduced blood pressure.
- Improves bone mineral density and strength.
- Reduced the risks of chronic headaches, dehydration and improves blood vessel health.
- I take Magnesium before bed each night. I think it helps me sleep better. Helps me recover between workouts better. If you've got the basics covered, adding in a little
magnesium supplement could help out as well.
Top recommendations: Legion, Thorne.
Here's an Instagram Post from 2 weeks ago talking a little bit about supplements. INSTAGRAM POST HERE. Again, they definitely
have their place and should be used. Just understand they are not magic and you shouldn't be looking to them to fix all of the problems in your body👍🏻 . REAL food should always be the first option - you're body prefers that more😁.
**If you're looking to try a new type of protein, are sick of the traditional chocolate/vanilla whey and just want something a lil different, try SEEQ HERE. It's a clear
protein available in flavors like blue raspberry, strawberry lemonade, green apple, fruit punch, peach and more! My wife, Julie, loves it! Its a nice change of pace from regular whey, click that link to give it a try!
Have a great rest of your day!
