Goooooooooodmorning!
Ahh, one of the best Sunday's of the year...and also
one of the worst. It's the greatest game of the year but also when football comes to an end. That is very sad to me as I enjoy watching NFL football games each week. Football is a passion of mine for some of you that don't know me. I played football since I was 7 years old up until I graduated from College. I miss it everyday...
Anyways! Let's link this day to fitness, obviously! As we sit around today and watch football. Try to take into account some of the thing's I'm going to lay out below to you. Enjoy yourself today but also take today as a learning curve. As an observation. As a realization that what I'm about to say is pretty freakin accurate.
- Go for a walk today...at some point.
MOST people are going to have some bad food today. So do yourself a favor and get some steps in before you indulge in all of that. Get your body moving this AM or before the game so maybe having an extra chicken finger won't feel too bad later. Or having an extra slice of pizza won't be the end all be all because you set yourself up for success and took a 45min walk earlier in the day. Movement is key EVERYDAY but especially on days when we are
going to have some high caloric food. Oh...and theres a pretty sweet halftime show...maybe get off your butt during that and do a little dancey-dance with Usher. That counts as movement too.
- Focus on the PROTEIN. Every party contains lots and lots of yummy carbohydrates. They are easy to make and very, very delicious. Your going to have some of that today. Enjoy it. But, while your doing that, try to load up on protein
either before the game or during the game. Protein will help keep you satiated. Higher protein intake increases thermogenesis. Eat the protein first. You'll get full faster. You'll eat less overall. Boom.
- WATCH. Watch what comes across the TV screen today. Are the commercials going to be Nick preaching protein? Nick preaching strength training? Nick preaching how you can't always be
dieting? HECK NOOOO. Every commercial today is trying to sell you something that's terrible for you (typically). Alcohol, chips, pizza, fast food...those are usually your favorite commercials. OH and I'm sure we'll get some nice Ozempic or GLP-1 or Semaglutide commercials in there. This is the SUPER BOWL for them, too. How many eyes are on the TV today? You don't think big pharma is cashing out today? Pshhhh. If our country
cared about making people healthier, today would be the #1 day to do so with how many people will be glued to the TV screen. But nope, today is about making the country EVEN MORE UNHEALTHY than we already are. Sure, we can all make our own choices. 100% agree you control what you put on your plate. But, when we have a Pepsi commercial with an Athlete in it, followed by an actor promoting your favorite chips, right after a cute little doggie
promoting beer followed by Oprah sticking herself in the abdomen with Ozempic...I think we have a problem in this country....maybe? Juuuuust maybe?
- Oh and thats right, today is the MOST expensive day to run a commercial. I'll just leave that one be ha. (WILD that we are one of the only country's that let pharmacy ads on TV, BTW).
I rant about this stuff because I care about all of you. I want people to be healthy. I want people to understand their body more. I want people to care more about themselves and live a better life. But it's so freakin hard to do that when we have a country INFLUENCED by food industries and big pharma. A commercial comes on the TV... promoting shitty food...that the shitty food industry is trying to
sell us... followed by a medication...that said shitty food just caused. Am I the crazy one here? Do other people see this nonsense as well?
We have SOOO MUCH research showing most people need to move more. We have so much
research showing most people can benefit from 1.0g of protein per body weight per day yet the RDA is still at 0.36g of protein per body weight per day. We have so much research showing strength training and weight barring activities can REVERSE osteopenia and osteoporosis but yet your doctor KEEPS PRESCRIBING YOU A DAMN PILL.
We DON'T have enough research on weight loss drugs and what it's doing to people long term. We don't have enough evidence to show thats the correct way to go about weight loss. We have all this research that isn't getting put out to the masses. I don't know why. I don't understand it. But what I can guess is, theres way too much money keeping people sick
and unhealthy. We are the most developed country in the world but yet have the highest medical costs and one of the most unhealthy populations...put 2 and 2 together...theres a reason for all these commercials today...in my opinion.
Just watch
😉.
