Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you have a wonderful day with family,
friends, pets or whomever else you are enjoying the day with. Here are a few tips to consider today (and all of the Holidays around the corner)!
- Be happy. Be Thankful. Be present. Many of us don't spend a lot of time with the people we see on Holidays. So make the best of it. Be happy you get to spend time with these people.
Be thankful some are still here to spend time with. Don't let the little things get in the way of the big picture.
- Enjoy yourself. Yes, there will be yummy food. Yes, you may be trying to lose weight or change your body composition. It's one day. If you think 1/365 days is going to make or break you losing weight...you have a lot more problems going on my friend.
- Don't
overindulge. Just like above, there will be yummy food. SO EAT IT. Just don't over do it. You love the cookies your aunt makes or the pie grandma makes? HAVE IT. Have 1 or 2 cookies...not 7. Have a smaller slice of pie, not one that takes up the entire plate. Have mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing and mac and cheese...just not 3 servings of everything. See? You can do this.
Avoiding foods today or saying "I can't have that I'm trying to lose weight" is a recipe for disaster. Are you going to do this every holiday now? When will you be satisfied with your weight? When will you say it's "ok" now to eat certain foods at parties? IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE OKAY....JUST IN MODERATION.
If you keep restricting and do not learn how to incorporate your favorite foods, holiday functions and family gatherings into your longterm plan...then you do not have a solution for yourself. You're going to continue down the same path your entire life if you do not understand how to have certain foods in your life at certain points in your life.
You cannot restrict forever. So how about learning how to eat like a normal human being and enjoy food with your loved ones on holidays. Then get back on track the next day and continue to crush your goals. It's all about moderation. It's all about being consistent.
One day is not going to make or break you. If it does...then you are already broken.
Have a great
day!
