training with an emphasis on progressive overload will yield those results. Cardio, boot camp style classes, barre, pilates, yoga, reformers, etc. - all of those are great. But, most are chasing a "toned" (hate that word) look. Strength training is how you achieve that. (And proper nutrition + protein of course!)
